Cervical Smear
Practice Nurse
Additional Information:Cervical screening starts from the age of 24 ½ years. You will receive an invite from the Cytology Screening Department to attend a smear test at your surgery.
Ring the surgery and let receptionist know you need to make a 20 minute appointment for a smear. Please make sure the day of your appointment falls around the middle of your menstrual cycle (i.e. two weeks after the first day of your period.
Chronic Disease Management
GPs & Practice Nurse
Additional Information: Patients who fall under the following high risk groups of chronic diseases will require an annual check-up in surgery:
Asthma
Coronary Heart Disease (CHD)
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
Diabetes
Hypertension
How to Book: The surgery will contact patients to come in for their annual check-up. This may either be done by telephone or letter.
Contraception
Practice Nurse
Additional Information: Nurse will discuss various methods of contraception. Morning after pill is also available and must be taken within 72 hours of unprotected intercourse; however contact must be made as early as possible as it is most effective within 24 hours.
Contraception can also be accessed via Sexual Health Services at the City of Coventry Health Centre, Stoney Stanton Road.
Medical Examinations

Additional Information: Special appointments that require a medical examination for employment, insurance and heavy goods vehicle (HGV) licence are available. Please note there will be a charge for these medicals. For information on these charges please contact either reception or Practice Secretary.
Ring the surgery and inform the receptionist that you need to book a medical examination required for HGV/Employment/Insurance.
Vaccination Clinics
Practice Nurse
Additional Information: Various vaccinations will be administered at different stages of the child’s development i.e. from the ages of 2 months up to pre-school age. These vaccinations form part of the government’s child health surveillance programme for the
prevention of serious childhood diseases. Appointments will be sent in the post. Please ensure your child attends these appointments.
Adults aged 65 plus – These include a yearly flu vaccination and pneumococcal vaccination for the prevention of flu and pneumococcal disease.

Travel Health
Practice Nurse
Additional Information: Some courses of vaccinations/medication take two or three months to complete so please take this into consideration when planning your journey. Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge.
Ring the surgery and let the receptionist know you are travelling and need to book an appointment with the Practice Nurse to discuss travel vaccinations. This appointment needs to be booked 3 months prior to travel.
